DO YOU KNOW WHOM
I AM TALKING ABOUT?
P. Ribes, s.j.

The power of good example

Sr. Gloria, in one of our village schools of Bihar, was instructing the First Communion children in the church compound under a big banyan tree. She was telling them all about Jesus’ kindness, concern and love for all people.

“Jesus:” She said, “Fed the hungry, cured the sick, played with the children, talked with the lepers, respected the beggars, forgave the sinners, consoled the crying, and befriended the lonely.”
As she was vexing eloquent about Jesus’ love and kindness, she realized that sitting among the First Communicants, there was a small Hindu girl, attentively listening to her.

She thought to herself: This little girl does not know whom I am speaking about. So, she asked her:”Darling, do you know whom I am talking about?” The girl replied: “Yes sister, you are talking about Fr. John!” – (Fr. John happened to be the Parish Priest of that village)

Sr. Gloria told her: “No, darling. I am talking about Jesus!” Quickly, the little child retorted: “But, Sister, Fr. John also, does all the things you told us Jesus did.”

Be like Jesus
Preach Jesus by your example
From the mouth of the little children…
Actions speak louder than words
